Central Sterile Service is an integrated unit in health care facilities that performs sterilization of medical-surgical instruments, equipment and consumables use in operation theater.

Central Sterile Service is a one-year training that will introduce the student to various aspects of the Central Sterile Service in health care facilities. Emphasis will be placed on Collecting and Transporting Used Surgical Instruments and Equipment, Cleaning and Decontaminating Used Items (Surgical Instrument and Equipment), Preparing and Packing Unsoiled Items (Surgical Instruments and Equipment) for Sterilization, Sterilization of Packed Items (Surgical Instruments and Equipment) and Controlling and Transporting Sterile Stocks
